St. John the Evangelist School has a wonderful Pre-Kindergarten Program that fosters skills necessary for Kindergarten by creating a curriculum around children's interests and needs.
Each and every area of child development is attended to with the children having so much fun each step of the way as they learn by integrating play with learning.
Some of the subject areas and skills are: Emerging Literacy, the child learns book knowledge, recognizing letters, realizing that print has meaning. Oral Language, the children use intelligible speech, learn to talk in large and small groups, communicate in sentences and wait their turn in a group.
There are pre-writing skills, listening skills, math, fine and gross motor skills, all learned in a pleasant caring environment. Good work habits are encouraged to show children how to follow routines independently, and how to follow directions and cooperate with others.
There are stories to hear, songs to sing, quiet time to rest, new friends to see and new skills to learn.
